Michael J. Kalson, M.D., F.A.A.O.S. Board Certified
Specialties Include Spinal Surgery & Joint Replacement Surgery
Dr. Kalson is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He attended medical school at Temple University, in Philadelphia, PA. He came to Forsyth and Gwinnett Counties shortly after completing his orthopedic training. Dr. Kalson established Academy Orthopedics in 1986, becoming the first orthopedic practice in Forsyth County.
During this time he has played an active role in the provision of orthopedic services at hospitals in the community as well as serving on their executive committees. Dr. Kalson speaks to numerous medical and civic organizations and is an active supporter of many youth athletic activities in our community. Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce honored him as a Top Five Finalist for Small Business Person of the Year 2004. Dr. Kalson specializes in spinal surgery, joint replacement surgery, and general orthopedics. Dr. Kalson is trained in the newest Kyphoplasty procedure for the treatment of Spinal fractures. Dr. Kalson gladly tours area businesses to become familiar with the workers’ environments in order to provide more accurate Workers’ Compensation preventative care.

Jesse E. Seidman, M.D., F.A.A.O.S. Board Certified
Specialties Include the Shoulder & Knee
Fellowship Trained in Sports Medicine
Dr. Seidman is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He joined Academy Orthopedics in 1995. He attended college and medical school at the State University of New York and received his post-graduate training at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York at the State University of New York in Stony Brook.
He completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. Dr. Seidman was born and raised in New York. He came to Atlanta in 1992 and practiced in Dekalb and Gwinnett counties prior to joining Academy Orthopedics. He has presented papers at orthopedic meetings and has been published in some of the major orthopedic journals. He brings to our practice his expertise in sports injuries, shoulder surgery, and general orthopedic surgery. Dr. Seidman has expertise in both foot and ankle surgery and total joint replacement surgery. Dr. Seidman is a Partner in Education. He gladly tours area businesses to become familiar with the workers’ environments in order to provide more accurate Workers’ Compensation preventative care.
James W. Duckett III, M.D.
Dr. James (Trey) Duckett specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and reconstruction, including open and arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, knee, hip, and elbow disorders.  In addition to sub specialized training in sports medicine, Dr. Duckett received focused training in arthroscopic and mini-open surgery for non-arthritic hip disorders.
Dr. Duckett graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina Honors College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.  He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Florida.  He then completed a one year sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama under the direction of Dr. James Andrews.

Dr. Duckett is a native of Charleston, South Carolina.  His wife, Luckie, is an Atlanta native and they have one son, William.  In his free time, Dr. Duckett enjoys spending time with family, playing golf, and watching Gamecock football.


Bethany Wiley Lill, MPAS, PA-C
Bethany is a certified physician assistant. She is a native of Atlanta and grew up in Snellville, Georgia. Bethany attended the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. During her undergraduate studies, she traveled abroad on medical missions, volunteered with local health clinics, and worked as a surgical assistant. After graduating
Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia, Bethany attended the physician assistant program at the Medical College of Georgia where she earned her Masters of Health Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Bethany is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants.

In her free time, Bethany enjoys running, playing tennis, traveling, and of course, watching Georgia Bulldog football.
